Fighting to Maintain Title II Funding
July 28, 2017

With the current administration looking to decrease federal spending on education, several education advocates are rallying together to convince legislators to maintain funding for some vital programs. For groups that are invested in elevating the teacher profession, Title II, Part A funds from the Every Student Succeeds Act is chief among them.

Recently members of Teach Plus, Educators for Excellence, Learning Forward, The National Center for Teacher Residencies, New Leaders, NNSTOY, TNTP, and Stand for Children sent a letter to key leaders in the house and senate on education appropriations committees, asking them support fully funding the program.

In the letter, the groups explain how states, districts and schools can use Title II funding to ensure all students are taught by excellent teachers and all schools led by great principals. To find more information on Title II, read the full letter here. Additionally, Educators for Excellence is asking people to directly contact their representatives in Congress here.
