Education Champions Share Opportunities to Help Hurricane Victims
August 31, 2017

This week, education advocates across the country are directing their networks toward opportunities to support Houston and the surrounding impacted communities from afar.

Texas Aspires shared a compilation of Hurricane Harvey resources, and a tool for school principals to “adopt” other schools in need.

Stand for Children Louisiana shared opportunities to support schools and libraries affected by the hurricane, as well as examples of Houston educators stepping up to support their school communities.

NYCAN and MarylandCAN shared information on the hurricane’s effect on Houston schools, and NPR’s detailed guide to supporting relief efforts.

Advocates have also shared opportunities to directly support specific school systems and their communities:

  • Houston ISD (Please specify “Harvey” as the purpose for your donation.)
  • YES Prep (Type ‘flood relief’ in the comments section of the donation link to ensure 100% of donations go toward flood relief.)
  • KIPP Houston (Please designate your gift to the Family Emergency Fund.)
  • Harmony Public Schools

Please check back for further updates on supporting students, schools, and communities affected by the hurricane.
